Tourism Levy

In November 2018, The Scottish Government initiated a national debate about a new proposed tax on visitors to Scotland.  The discussion aims to allow relevant and interested parties to share their views and evidence for and against this tax.  Edinburgh City Council also conducted a  consultation on its proposals for a Transient Visitor Levy (TVL) or ‘Tourist Tax’.

Other councils throughout the UK are also considering implementing a Transient Visitor Levy.  In April 2019, UKinbound submitted its position about the proposed tax to the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Tourism, Leisure and the Hospitality Industry.  You can read this submission here and their final report here.
