Membership Manager, UKinbound

UKinbound was established in 1977.  We are the only trade association that represents the interests of the UK’s inbound tourism sector and ensure it is recognised as a leading economic and employment driver in the UK. Our mission is to help our 340 members across the UK to manage successful, profitable businesses that are part of a vibrant and sustainable industry. We provide opportunities for our diverse membership to grow and develop their businesses via a programme of events designed to connect buyers and suppliers in the travel trade. We also provide marketing opportunities, market seminars, and access to the latest industry insights. In addition, we lobby Government on behalf of our members on key industry issues such as COVID-19 support, taxation, Visas and Brexit, and engage with the media to raise the profile of inbound tourism and highlight its importance to the UK economy.

Job summary:

Reporting directly to the Head of Membership and Business Development, a confident and professional Membership Manager is required by UKinbound. The successful candidate will be expected to work in UKinbound’s London office and remotely, including evenings at events. Some domestic travel required. The Membership Manager will work towards targets and identify relevant business development opportunities and use entitative to help grow membership numbers. Build and maintain a positive relationship with all new, current and potential members.

Working in a small but highly effective team to provide support across all aspects of the work of the Secretariat of UKinbound. Responsible for meeting the day to day needs of members and acting as first point of contact for members.

Key responsibilities:

To establish and maintain good relationships with members, assisting in developing and implementing a membership contact programme to ensure the effective management of members and their requirements.

  • Manage the UKinbound website/ Members profiles and CRM system and ensure they are updated daily.
  • To assist the Head of Membership with the input of member data, research as necessary and collation of up-to-date information from members for the Members’ Directory and website.
  • Assist Head of Marketing and Communications with yearly directory updates.
  • To assist with the administrative requirements for new members.
  • Supplying potential members collateral and reviewing applications via company house checks.
  • To assist the Head of Membership with following up potential members.
  • Supporting new members through their 6 months to a year in membership presenting this data to Head of Membership and Business development.
  • To act as a point of contact for members and co-ordinate members’ news.
  • To co-ordinate with Marketing and Communication team for members news for the monthly newsletter.
  • To upsell where possible. Bespoke mailings, sponsorship, and paid-for events.
  • To deal with day-to-day enquiries from members, non-members.
  • To assist with general mailings and communications to members.
  • To attend all UKinbound and industry events where appropriate.
  • To assist with the event programme and encourage member attendance.
  • To communicate with the Events team on members looking to host / sponsor events.
  • General administrative duties as required, including: Minute taking for Membership Committee meetings and monthly reports to be given to the Head of Membership.
  • Collect vital information from members such as OTAs and tour operators with the use of surveys and updating in the ‘Tour Operators Guide’.
  • Manage Member Masterclass events, working close the events team and budgets.
  • Identify potential leads and industry trends.

  • Ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Good IT skills and experience of online communication.
  • Excellent written and oral communication.
  • Sympathetic to the needs of the inbound tourism industry.
  • Experience using and managing a CRM system.
  • Willing to work (recompensed) extended hours.
