UKinbound announce new charity partnership with Shaw Trust

UKinbound announced an exciting new charity partnership with Shaw Trust last night at its annual Summer Ball; a highlight of the tourism and hospitality industry events calendar.

Taking place at The Hurlingham Club in London, the ball was attended by key figures from across the industry, who enjoyed an evening of networking and entertainment including a spectacular performance from The Phantom of the Opera to celebrate 30 years at London’s Her Majesty’s Theatre London.

A raffle draw raised over £4,000 for Shaw Trust with prizes for the draw kindly donated by UKinbound members. These included: vouchers to Westfield; a private chauffeured punting tour in Cambridge; dinner and a show at the London Cabaret Club, and a fully escorted day trip to Paris.

One of UKinbound’s key priorities is to raise awareness of jobs and career progression within the tourism industry particularly as its members are increasingly concerned about skills shortages after the UK leaves the European Union.  The new collaboration with Shaw Trust – who support and help over 50,000 people a year with employment opportunities and skills development –  could potentially help alleviate some of the existing and future skills shortages in the tourism and hospitality industries.

UKinbound’s Chief Executive Officer, Deirdre Wells OBE commented, “We are delighted to have agreed this exciting new charity partnership with Shaw Trust who provide vital support, skills development and employment opportunities for people across the UK.   We look forward to hearing more about their work, introducing them to our members and collaborating with them on a careers campaign in the coming months.”

Nick Carey, Shaw Trust’s Chief of Staff stated, ” We are excited to be UKinbound’s charity partner and are looking forward to working with them to support more people across the UK to enter and develop their careers in tourism and hospitality. We are also delighted with the funds raised for Shaw Trust at the UKinbound ball, which we will reinvest in projects to support the people and communities we serve.”

As an advocate of British inbound tourism, UKinbound has for many years lobbied the Government regarding further support for the industry; the UK’s 3rd largest employer. Together with Shaw Trust, UKinbound will continue to highlight the importance of the tourism and hospitality sector to the UK’s economic growth.
