BRICKWRECKS at Chatham Historic Dockyard EXTENDED

Due to overwhelming demand, the UK debut of Brickwrecks: Sunken Ships in LEGO®  Bricks at The Historic Dockyard Chatham has been extended until 16 November 2025.

The exhibition created by LEGO® Certified Professional Ryan “The Brickman” McNaught in partnership with the Australian National Maritime Museum invites  visitors to discover the dramatic stories of eight iconic shipwrecks through large-scale LEGO® models. Featuring models between 1 and 3 metres long,  Brickwrecks showcases legendary vessels such as:

  • Uluburn – the world’s oldest known shipwreck, dating to 1300 BCE
  • Vasa – the Swedish warship that famously sank in Stockholm on its maiden voyage
  • HMS Pandora – lost in 1791 chasing the Bounty mutineers
  • RMS Titanic- the luxury liner that tragically sank in the North Atlantic in 1912.

Each ship is expertly recreated in LEGO® bricks with hidden details, easter eggs and  historical context.

Brickwrecks includes interactive zones and multimedia exhibits where visitors can try out real archaeological techniques, dive into the science of underwater discovery and build their own LEGO® creations inspired by the wrecks.

This summer, younger visitors can take part in a brand new interactive family trail: Time Travellers Assemble. Deckster is a curious mini-figure who’s spent months inside the exhibition and now dreams  of joining the Dockyard crew but he needs help learning about the site’s past. Armed with a Time Travel Passport, families follow a trail through key locations across the Dockyard. Along the way, children will meet historical characters, complete challenges and collect stamps to help Deckster earn his name badge.

Kipwrecks offers groups the chance to stay overnight at the Historic Dockyard, surrounded  by the stories and models of Brickwrecks: Sunken Ships in LEGO® Bricks. This unforgettable experience is available to schools, youth groups and other organised parties looking to combine history and adventure into one unique stay. The group will enjoy exclusive access to the exhibition after hours, followed by a night in one of the Dockyard’s historic spaces. The experience includes a guided trail, LEGO®-themed activities and the chance to explore the stories behind some of the world’s most legendary shipwrecks.

Paul Barnard, Deputy Chief Executive, Chatham Historic Dockyard Trust, said, “We’re  delighted that Brickwrecks has captured the imagination of so many visitors. Extending the  run gives us the opportunity to expand the programme with exciting new experiences for all  ages. This exhibition brilliantly combines storytelling, history and creativity in a way that’s  both accessible and engaging. It feels especially at home here at the Historic Dockyard, with  our own connections to ships like HMS Erebus, HMS Terror and HMS Pandora.”

Brickwrecks: Sunken Ships in LEGO® Bricks will be on display at The Historic Dockyard  Chatham until 16 November 2025.

Tickets, included with Dockyard admission, are available at thedockyard.co.uk.
