The team behind Kynren – An Epic Tale of England has launched an open call for volunteers, inviting members of the public to take part in the production from 26 November.
Organisers are looking to welcome new Archers, the name given to Kynren’s dedicated volunteers, to join its award-winning cast and crew ahead of next summer’s spectacular new season.
In particular, they are encouraging families with younger children aged 5 to 11, as well as more men, to get involved and help bring 2,000 years of history to life. No previous experience is needed. Archers receive professional training in everything from stage combat, choreography and pyrotechnics to costume making and visitor experience.
“Every year, our volunteers amaze us with their dedication, teamwork and enthusiasm. Kynren simply couldn’t exist without them – they are the heartbeat of the show,” said Anna Warnecke, CEO at Kynren.
“Volunteering at Kynren is about so much more than performing – it’s about learning new skills, building confidence and being part of something truly inspiring that brings people together,” she added.
Further Open Call sessions will take place on Tuesday 6 January 2026 and Thursday 5 February 2026, offering more opportunities to get involved ahead of the new season. The 90-minute open call sessions take place at Kynren, Bishop Auckland, with parking available on site. Anyone interested in joining can find out more or register their place at www.kynren.com or by emailing the team.
