Discover 250 Years of craftmanship at the Museum of Royal Worcester

The Museum of Royal Worcester, located by the regenerated Royal Porcelain Works factory site in the historic city of Worcester, is inviting group travel organisers to step into a world of creativity, heritage and craftsmanship spanning over 250 years.

Founded in 1751, Dr. Wall’s early porcelain factory began by meeting Britain’s growing appetite for drinking tea from China. Today the Museum shares colourful stories of design, innovation and skill, through the world’s largest collection of Worcester porcelain – established by visionary philanthropist and factory Director, Charles Dyson Perrins of the Worcestershire Sauce family.

Groups can explore the collection’s iconic showstoppers and unique archive, including Admiral Lord Nelson’s breakfast teapot, the exquisite 1865 Earl-of-Dudley tea service, famous Painted Fruit, and Evesham oven-to-tableware. Visitors are transported into the lives of the skilled makers, designers and gilders who brought Worcester porcelain to life, and the celebrity customers who treasured it. The Museum’s Sensory and Showstopper Trails make the experience rich, engaging and accessible for all.

Groups can tailor their visit with a range of unique experiences, from talks, tours and demonstrations to creative hands-on workshops that bring Worcester’s porcelain stories vividly to life:

  • Factory Life at ‘The Porcelain’ – an entertaining and interactive talk and tour that brings to life the factory’s history through worker’s personal stories, sound recordings and handling objects.
  • Be a Royal Worcester Artist – a relaxed, exclusive painting experience led by original porcelain factory artist, Jim Skerrett. Participants create their own painted English scene on tile or canvas, while enjoying stories of factory life over freshly brewed tea and cake served on Royal Worcester.
  • Flower-Modelling Demonstration with Avril Pulley – meet Royal Worcester’s original porcelain flower-maker and watch her recreate intricate flowers while sharing extraordinary tales of factory life and royal visits.
  • Pottery painting in the footsteps of ‘The Porcelain’ – hands-on creativity in the Paint-Your-Own-Pottery Studio, surrounded by world-class design inspiration, groups can choose from a wide range of ceramic shapes to paint their own unique design. Finished pieces are glazed and fired for collection or posting — a perfect memento.

The Museum Shop offers a curated selection of delightful gifts including vintage and contemporary Royal Worcester, books, art prints, fine teas, stationery and textiles inspired by the archive, and stunning jewellery handcrafted from Royal Worcester shards.

The Museum of Royal Worcester welcomes group visits year-round. With free coach parking, a café opposite, and Worcester Cathedral nearby, the Museum is ideally placed as a half-day visit or as part of a full-day itinerary exploring Worcester and the nearby Cotswolds.
