FAM TRIPS
We’re delighted to offer a choice of fam trips on Friday 11 September to explore the very best of Greenwich and the surrounding area.
FAM TRIP ONE: (11:00 – 17:00)
Royal Museums Greenwich, National Maritime Museum, Cutty Sark & Royal Observatory
Begin your day at the Royal Observatory – home of GMT with a guided tour – stand on the prime meridian of the world and learn about how Astronomers mapped the stars, all from the heart of Greenwich! Following this, walk via Greenwich Park to the World’s oldest surviving tea clipper – the Cutty Sark, famed for bringing tea and other goods from around the world into London! Hear tales from life at sea from an expert guide. The group will then break for a pub lunch in Greenwich before picking up a guided tour at the Queen’s House, marvelling at the Tulip Staircase and over 400 pieces of artwork featuring renowned works by the likes of Holbein, L.S. Lowry, Kehinde Wiley and Tania Kovats. We wrap up the day with a brand-new experience: ‘Astronomy take over at the National Maritime Museum’. Meet real astronomers, try your hand at landing a Mars rover, use a starlight splitter and step inside an awe-inspiring ‘galaxy box’ to find out just how amazing our Universe is.
FAM TRIP TWO: (12:00 – 16:00)
Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich Gin & Afternoon Tea
Begin at 12pm with a gin masterclass at Greenwich Spirits, where you’ll learn about the different styles of this captivating spirit. Discover the various distillation methods that have been used from gin’s origins through to the present day, as well as the story of Greenwich Gin and its links to maritime exploration. The team will guide you through a range of botanicals and flavour profiles while you sample a selection of award-winning gins. Afterwards, enjoy a tour of the Painted Hall at the Old Royal Naval College. Designed by Sir James Thornhill and painted between 1707 and 1726, the Painted Hall features over 3,700 square metres of Baroque walls and ceilings, adorned with striking artwork depicting more than 200 figures, including kings, queens and mythological creatures. Following the tour, enjoy Afternoon Tea in the Undercroft at the Old Royal Naval College – a unique space that is often used as a green room when filming takes place at the Naval College.
FAM TRIP THREE: (10:00 – 15:00)
London Cable Car, Up at The O2 & Toca Social
Soar above the Thames on the London Cable Car – London’s only cable car experience. Enjoy spectacular views across the Docklands, Greenwich and Canary Wharf as you glide across the river. Following this, climb 52 metres above ground level with expert guides and take in breath-taking 360-degree views of London’s skyline from the top. During the day, you can spot landmarks up to 15 miles away, while evening climbs offer the chance to enjoy the attraction’s multi-coloured light experience as the city begins to sparkle below. To round off the day, the group will visit Toca Social, one of three sites in the UK, for lunch and games.
Please note that all fam trips are limited to 20 participants.
