Coach operators encouraged to take part in Birmingham coach bay study

Birmingham City Council is inviting coach operators and businesses that welcome coach visitors to take part in a new survey aimed at improving coach access and facilities across the city. The Birmingham Coach Bay Study Survey seeks to gather valuable feedback on how coaches travel to, move around, and stop within Birmingham, helping to shape future planning and infrastructure.

Coaches play a vital role in supporting Birmingham’s visitor economy, facilitating group travel for tourism, business events and leisure visits. Through this survey, Birmingham City Council aims to better understand what is currently working well, as well as identify any challenges faced by operators and venues. Areas of focus include travel routes, drop-off and pick-up locations, parking provision, and supporting facilities for drivers and passengers.

Insights gathered from the survey will help inform future improvements, ensuring Birmingham remains an attractive, accessible and efficient destination for coach travel. Enhancements could support smoother journeys for drivers, improved experiences for passengers, and stronger connections to key attractions, venues and city centre locations.

The study forms part of a wider commitment to strengthening Birmingham’s position as a leading destination for group travel and major events. By working closely with industry partners, the Council aims to deliver practical, informed solutions that benefit both visitors and local businesses. This study is funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, reinforcing the importance of investment in transport and visitor infrastructure to support regional growth.

Coach operators and relevant businesses are encouraged to share their feedback by completing the survey here.
