Camera Obscura ranked the third-best UK attraction by Which?

Camera Obscura & World of Illusions is celebrating a top three UK ranking and Recommended Provider status by Which?, securing its place as one of the UK’s best days out this summer.

The Which? ranking is based on feedback from a large panel of customers with first-hand experience, as well as by Which? experts who measure each attraction against relevant, detailed and proven criteria laid down by Which?

Achieving a top tier position places Camera Obscura among the country’s most highly rated attractions, underlining its strong reputation for delivering engaging, high quality and memorable experiences for families and visitors.

The popular attraction invites visitors to explore five floors of interactive optical illusions, hands-on exhibits and immersive experiences with panoramic views of the city from its rooftop terrace overlooking Edinburgh Castle. Which? singled it out for its blend of entertainment and discovery, the chance to actively engage rather than just look at things and how interactive and fun the exhibits were.

With more than 100 exhibits, it has a long-standing reputation as one of the country’s leading attractions, welcoming hundreds of thousands of visitors each year for over 170 years and remains one of Scotland’s most popular attractions.

The achievement comes as the UK Government announces a temporary reduction in VAT on ticket prices for family attractions over the summer holidays, aimed at supporting access to affordable days out during the peak visitor season. Camera Obscura has long championed creating accessible and memorable experiences for families, regularly offering seasonal events and promotions throughout the year to help visitors make the most of their time at the attraction and create interactive experiences during school holidays.

Andrew Johnson, General Manager at Camera Obscura, said, “Being recognised by Which? as one of the top visitor attractions in the UK is a hugely exciting achievement for our team. Feedback from visitors is incredibly important to us, and this recognition reflects the effort that goes into delivering memorable experiences every single day at Camera Obscura. We’ve welcomed generations of families through our doors over the years and remain committed to offering fun, interactive and accessible days out for visitors of all ages this summer and all year round.”
