Heartland Travel and Scotland Folk Tours have reported a period of growth from their partnership of two years.
Scotland Folk Tours, a Destination Management Company (DMC), focuses on curating seamless, fully packaged luxury vacations that handle every logistical layer for international travellers, from premium character accommodations to exclusive local experiences. The partnership sells these comprehensive high-end itineraries, while Heartland Travel exclusively delivers the on-the-road experience on their behalf.
To meet the demand generated by Scotland Folk Tours’ bespoke bookings, Heartland Travel has rapidly scaled its operations. In 2025, the business operated a tight, premium fleet of four vehicles. By the current 2026 season, that number has grown to six vehicles to accommodate the influx of multi-day inbound travellers.
Central to this growth has been Heartland’s commitment to premium vehicle specifications that prioritise client comfort and brand continuity. The bulk of the group travel is executed using unbranded luxury 16-seat and 25-seat midi-coaches. Because these coaches are kept free of conspicuous corporate branding, they act as a seamless extension of the luxury experience promised to guests, while offering passengers an elevated vantage point to look over Scotland’s famous roadside stone walls.
However, the jewel in the crown of the 2026 fleet expansion is the introduction of Heartland’s smallest vehicle to date: a custom-built, nine-passenger Mercedes Sprinter.
When catering to smaller family units or executive groups, many operators rely on Mercedes V-Class. While the V-Class is a staple of luxury transport, it carries a distinct limitation for multi-day inbound touring: luggage capacity. A group of six or seven adults travelling with large international check-in bags will easily push a V-Class to its absolute limits, often requiring luggage to encroach on passenger legroom or forcing families to leave essential gear behind.
Heartland’s specially built nine passenger Sprinter completely eliminates this compromise. Built from the ground up for high-end comfort, it offers a premium, remarkably spacious cabin that allows small groups to fully relax between historic stops. Crucially, it features a custom, massively enlarged trunk/boot section. This design breakthrough ensures that smaller groups can carry all of their multi-day touring luggage and extra gear effortlessly, without ever restricting cabin comfort or compromising the luxury environment.
By combining the logistics-heavy curation of Scotland Folk Tours with Heartland Travel’s top-tier fleet and masterful storytelling guides, this small Scottish business has unlocked a formidable growth formula. As they look past the 2026 season, Heartland Travel stands as a proud testament to how independent UK inbound members can scale thoughtfully, invest innovatively, and keep the rich heritage of Scotland moving forward.
