UKinbound responds to Government’s CV 19 restart plan

CEO Joss Croft has commented on the Government’s COVID 19 restart plans:

“The health and safety of visitors and staff is of course the top priority for the UK tourism and hospitality industry. Whilst we were encouraged to hear from the Government last night that some businesses in the UK such as attractions, hotels, pubs and restaurants might be able to open from 1 July we are worried that social distancing measures and the end or tapering of the job retention scheme from June could threaten the viability of many of these businesses.”

“We also continue to be really worried about the future of our inbound tourism industry, particularly for tour operators, destination management companies and coach operators that rely almost 100% on international visitors. Non essential international travel is not allowed for the foreseeable future and coupled with the likelihood of new quarantine measures for visitors to the UK, thousands of jobs are now at risk. The industry needs to know if Government will be able to help and support it going forward.”
