At the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this August, the historic Tolbooth Tavern on the Royal Mile will transform into a sanctuary of Scottish heritage for “An Ode to Rabbie Burns”.

Held across five exclusive evenings (August 1, 12, 19, 24, and 25 at 9pm), the immersive event will blend piping performances, iconic poetry, and hearty Scottish cuisine for an unforgettable cultural experience.

Hosted within one of Edinburgh’s oldest pubs, the Tolbooth Tavern, a Lomond Leisure Group pub, was built in 1591. Guests will be welcomed by pipers Liam of the Shotts and Dykehead Pipe Band, and Chris from the Glasgow Police Pipe Band.

Each evening celebrates Burns’ legacy with a ceremonial Address to a Haggis, paired with Craigellachie whisky, a reading of “Tam O’Shanter,” and a full traditional menu featuring cullen skink, haggis, neeps and tatties, and homemade cranachan. The event runs for 1.5 to 2 hours and is priced at £43 per person.

Sophie Mallon, Chief Marketing Officer at Lomond Leisure Group said, “We wanted to showcase an event during the Edinburgh Fringe. ‘An Ode to Rabbie Burns’ is our homage to the poetry and pride that pulses through Scotland’s heritage. There’s nothing quite like a haggis toast in a centuries-old tavern”.
