Brighton & Hove Museums will host a new exhibition, ABBA: One Week in Brighton, celebrating the 50th anniversary of ABBA’s Eurovision win at Brighton Dome. The exhibition will take place from 28 March to 4 August 2024 and will feature photographs, film, memories and memorabilia.

In 1974, Brighton was electric with Eurovision fever; flags from different countries lined the streets, the contestants were photographed exploring the town, and excitement was building. ABBA’s eye-catching outfits ensured that people noticed them even before they stepped on stage. Waterloo, their winning song, became the band’s international breakthrough, despite the UK judges giving them ‘nul points’.

Visitors are invited to relive the excitement of that iconic week through the personal stories of the people who were there, from the backstage crew and people in the audience to the autograph hunters who rushed to the stage door to meet the Swedish superstars.
