Wine festival comes to Battersea Power Station 

Battersea Power Station is set to host a new festival, The Wine Circuit, between 6 – 8 June. Festival-goers will have opportunities to discover their new favourite wines, whilst learning about winemaking and the latest trends from industry experts.

Kick starting The Wine Circuit will be the Strictly Bangers wine tasting and music event, founded by Mark Gurney, Co-owner and Director at Bar Levan. Attendees will have their wine knowledge put to the test with blind tastings and a quiz, with prizes up for grabs. There will be live DJ sets with Mark Gurney and special guests on the decks.

Festival highlights include:  

  • A Journey Through British Wine (7 June) – a tasting event hosted by Abbie Moulton, author of Great British Wines
  • Bubbling Under: New Trends in Sparkling Wine (7 June) – a tasting event hosted by Shane Jones, sparkling wine expert, writer and judge.. 
  • Corker with Hannah Crosbie (7 June) – a Q&A and tasting with Hannah Crosbie, The Guardian’s wine critic, hosted by writer Emily Bryce-Perkins. 
  • Why Natural Wine Matters (8 June) – a panel talk and tasting with Desiree Chantarasak, Co-Owner of AngloThai; Sunny Hodge, Founder of Diogenes The Dog / Aspen &  Meursault; Sinead Murdoch, Co-Founder of Tasca. The discussion will be hosted by Honey Spencer, Co-Owner of Sune and author of Natural Wine, No Drama.
  • The Low-Down on Alcohol Free Wine (8 June) – a tasting and panel discussion by Laura Willoughby MBE, Founder of Club Soda and David Hodgson, Founder of Zeno Wine. 
  • Provence and Beyond: How to Choose the Perfect Pale Rosé (8 June) – a tasting event hosted  by Libby Brodie, City A.M.’s wine columnist. 

Throughout the event, Power Station Park will be transformed into an alfresco market with pop-ups from Vagabond Wines, Highbury Vintners, Oxney Organic Estate, Sandbridge Barton, Domaine des Jeanne, ETO, La Mad and Battersea Brewery. Visitors can also experience exclusive wine and food pairings from smokehouse From the Ashes BBQ, Masa Tacos, pizzeria Made of Dough and new Portuguese-Spanish inspired opening Tasca. The team behind Fallow will be serving their famous fried chicken paired with frozen margaritas, wine and beer towers from their sister restaurant Fowl. 

A market will be offering everything from bottle stoppers, corkscrews and decanters, to wine glasses and wine related gifts, allowing festival-goers to enhance their experience at home. 

Elsewhere, many of the bars and restaurants at Battersea Power Station will be joining The Wine Circuit with their own wine-themed activities. As well as taking part in The Wine Cup, newly refurbished urban winery, Vagabond Wines, will also be hosting a duo of wine and cheese tasting events on 8 June, whilst Searcys Champagne Bar will have their Champagne Rolls  Royce bar in Power Station Park.
