World of Beatrix Potter opens Peter Rabbit™ Café

The first official Peter Rabbit™ Café in Europe has opened in Bowness on Windermere in the Lake District, opposite the World of Beatrix Potter™ Attraction. The Café offers a themed dining experience dedicated to the most famous rabbit in the world.

The menu features Peter Rabbit and friends themed items such as Tom Kitten’s Hot Dog, Mr McGregor’s finest bacon & egg sandwich, a Peter Rabbit™ pizza or Pigling Bland pancake stack. Other options include Mrs Tiggy-winkle’s Afternoon Tea or Beatrix Potter’s High Tea.

The Peter Rabbit™ Café is the vision of Theatre Designer Roger Glossop, with Artist in Residence Caroline Dalton creating the internal vision and lighting by Jason Taylor. Inside the café are 12 variations of Peter Rabbit models at 50cm high, depicting the adventures of the world’s most famous rabbit, a show stopping vegetable chandelier, and stained glass windows detailing Mr McGregor’s chase through the garden. Coming soon are Mr McGregor’s watering cans suspended over the cake counter, spilling watery light from their spouts, and a rotating stage with a watercolour scene.

The café is open every day from 10.30am – 4.00pm for brunch, lunch, afternoon tea and cakes, serving coffee from Cumbrian coffee roasters. Visitors can combine a stop at the café with a visit to the World of Beatrix Potter™ Attraction. This summer, visitors can also add a ticket to the Happy Birthday Peter Rabbit theatre show, a family musical which runs up to three shows a day from Saturday 5 July – 31 August.
