Blenheim Palace is giving families a summer boost by offering free entry for up to four children until the end of August.

From 22 July to 31 August, an adult Palace, Park and Gardens ticket will allow free entry for up to four children aged 5 – 16 from the same household (and accompanied by an adult), worth £16.50 each. All tickets must be pre-purchased online prior to arrival.

As part of the summer celebrations, Blenheim Palace has also announced a series of new child-friendly outdoor activities including bubble shows, stilt walkers, bug trails, mini-golf and theatrical performances.

“After a long few months of lockdown, we want families to come and visit Blenheim Palace and enjoy some quality time together in a place where they will feel safe,” said Emily Hirons, Head of Operations.

“As well as the new outdoor events, we’re also reopening the Pleasure Gardens and the miniature trains, plus there’s the Palace itself, the formal gardens and literally thousands of acres of beautiful parkland to explore. The Pleasure Gardens’ Adventure Playground and the Pizza Cafe will also be open,” she added.

Until 16 August visitors can also enjoy a delicious picnic hamper in the Palace grounds. In partnership with Midsummer Nightcap and sponsored by Winston Churchill’s favourite champagne producer Pol Roger, Picnic at the Palace features a choice of lunchtime, afternoon tea and dining options all accompanied by live music or comedy performances. Bookings must be made in advance online and daytime bookings also include entry to Blenheim Palace’s parks and gardens.

Groups of up to six will be seated under pergolas with tables and chairs, or deckchairs and parasols for couples. All the hampers feature a selection of the finest local produce from Oxford Cheese Company, Barefoot Bakery, the Natural Bread Company, and Gatineau, offering a variety of sandwiches, homemade quiches, scotch eggs, sausage rolls, and a selection of sweet treat including cakes, tarts and scones. Vegetarian hampers, and a variety of special occasion packages are also available, and the Midsummer Nightcap caravan bar ‘Maggie’ will be onsite to provide a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

Francesca Nally, Managing Director of Midsummer Nightcap said, “This really is a socially-distanced outdoor experience like no other, it’s the perfect way to reconnect with loved ones and make the most of the British summer in one of the most beautiful locations anywhere in the country.”

As part of its reopening process Blenheim Palace has obtained the VisitEngland We’re Good To Go industry mark to indicate it has fully complied with all the processes need to re-open safely. Measures include a daily cap on visitor numbers, new signage and barriers, extra outdoor toilets with washing and hand sanitising stations, cashless transactions and personal protective equipment and protective screens for staff in key areas.
