Blenheim Palace has been voted Best Historic Attraction at the 2022 Group Leisure & Travel Awards. The Oxfordshire UNESCO World Heritage Site received the award at a gala ceremony hosted by football legend Kevin Keegan held this week.

Blenheim beat off strong competition from Windsor Castle, Castle Howard and Leeds Castle to claim the title.

The awards were first presented in 1997 and are voted for by readers of Group Leisure & Travel including major sports and social clubs, retired groups, National Trust groups, PROBUS groups, Women’s Institutes, U3A groups, Rotary, Round Table plus friends, family and like-minded people who travel together.

Sarah-Jayne Beasley, Blenheim’s Groups and Partnerships Manager said, “We are absolutely delighted to have won this award; particularly as we were up against such amazing competition.

“It’s particularly pleasing as it is voted for by the group organisers and reflects on all the hard work the team at Blenheim has done over the past 12 months to ensure we offer a great experience.

“The groups market is highly competitive and has suffered significantly as a result of the pandemic so to be recognised in this way is a huge morale booster for us all”, she added.

In recent years, Blenheim Palace has launched a number of initiatives specifically for groups which have included providing multimedia audio guides in nine different languages as well as launching new tours on subjects as diverse as Winston Churchill at Blenheim, Military Marlboroughs, Life Below Stairs and the Ladies of Blenheim.
