Camera Obscura & World of Illusions will host a specially created football-themed installation, which will transform the attraction’s famous Giant Kaleidosphere into a celebration of the national team’s return to football’s biggest stage.
The Edinburgh attraction has created a bespoke World Cup graphic which will be displayed within its Giant Kaleidosphere exhibit, creating a visual spectacle as the design is reflected thousands of times within the mirrored structure. The limited-edition installation, created by the in-house technical team, is to celebrate Scotland’s qualification for the FIFA World Cup and will only be available for visitors to see during Scotland’s involvement in the tournament.
Accompanying the launch are promotional photographs featuring Rosie Corbett wearing a Scotland football kit and posing with a football alongside the Giant Kaleidosphere, capturing the excitement and national pride surrounding Scotland’s World Cup campaign.
Camera Obscura & World of Illusions has created the installation as a tribute to the Scotland team and supporters as the nation prepares to compete on football’s biggest stage. The Giant Kaleidosphere is one of the attraction’s most distinctive exhibits. The large, mirrored structure creates extraordinary kaleidoscopic effects, multiplying images into seemingly endless patterns and reflections.
For the duration of Scotland’s World Cup journey, visitors will be able to view the specially commissioned football-themed design as it is repeated again and again throughout the exhibit, creating a spectacular display of colour, movement and football fever.
Andrew Johnson, General Manager of Camera Obscura & World of Illusions, said, “Everyone in Scotland remembers where they were when the national team qualified for a major tournament, and reaching the World Cup is something truly special. We wanted to mark the occasion in a way that only Camera Obscura could.
“The Giant Kaleidosphere is one of our most unique exhibits, and seeing this specially created World Cup design reflected thousands of times creates a spectacular effect. It’s our way of showing support for Scotland and giving visitors a fun and memorable experience during the tournament. We’re all hoping Scotland can go deep into the competition because the longer they stay in the World Cup, the longer this special installation will remain on display.”
The World Cup-themed installation will remain on display for the duration of Scotland’s participation in the FIFA World Cup. Should Scotland progress through the tournament, the exhibit will continue to be available for visitors to enjoy. Once Scotland’s World Cup campaign comes to an end, the installation will be retired, making this a genuinely limited-time attraction.
With no guarantee of when Scotland’s next World Cup appearance may come, Camera Obscura hopes the installation will give football fans, families and visitors from around the world an opportunity to celebrate a historic moment for Scottish football.
