Castle Howard wins International Tourism Award

Castle Howard has been recognised for its outstanding contribution to inbound tourism, winning the International Tourism Award at the Visit York Tourism Awards 2026. The award celebrates Castle Howard’s continued investment in delivering high-quality visitor experiences while successfully attracting and welcoming international audiences.

Located in North Yorkshire, Castle Howard is one of the UK’s most significant historic houses, welcoming visitors from across Europe, North America and emerging long-haul markets. The estate has strengthened its international offer through an enhanced partnership with Netflix for its use as a location to film Bridgerton, improved visitor infrastructure, and a diverse programme of exhibitions and events, including its award-winning Christmas event, and Staging the Baroque, and its new exhibition for 2026, celebrating the tercentenary of its architect, Sir John Vanbrugh.

A spokesperson from Visit York said, “Castle Howard delivers an exceptional visitor experience, underpinned by outstanding customer service, high-quality facilities and a clear commitment to accessibility and inclusion. The venue excels in welcoming international visitors through multilingual audio guides, cultural awareness training, and strong global marketing links, a world-class attraction with strong international appeal and consistently high operational standards.”

This recognition reflects Castle Howard’s ongoing work with travel trade partners, tour guides and operators to ensure the Estate remains a compelling and bookable product for inbound itineraries. Its proximity to York, a key gateway destination, positions it as a strong addition to regional and national touring routes.

Ammie Jones, Head of Sales and Partnerships said, “We are delighted to receive the International Tourism Award. Welcoming international visitors is a core part of our work and we continue to invest in making Castle Howard accessible, engaging and relevant to audiences from around the world.”

Castle Howard continues to play an active role in supporting the UK’s inbound tourism economy, contributing to regional growth and encouraging longer stays in North Yorkshire and the wider Yorkshire region.
