Enjoy a Christmas steeped in history and culture at Nottingham Castle

Nottingham Castle has revealed its plans to make December a month full of the warmth and spirit of a traditional Christmas, alongside amazing exhibitions that explore 1,000 years of history.

After entering the delightfully decked out visitor centre, guests can take part in an array of Christmas activities, all as part of the general admission price.

With a backdrop of twinkling lights and beautiful traditional decorations, visitors can take part in sustainable paper craft activities for free including card, cracker and bauble making, with inspiration from the festive characters and collection items present within the world-class galleries.

Those visiting on 18 – 19 December can also enjoy Dickensian Christmas re-enactments by Black Knight Historical. Charles Dickens himself will be reading excerpts from A Christmas Carol and musical duo Lily and George will lead a choir of festive carol singers. They will be joined by the amazing Dr Payne on his Penny Farthing machine, cheeky Victorian chimney sweeps, housekeepers and soldiers, as well as famous detective Sherlock Holmes who will be on the hunt for festive clues.

From 1 – 24 December, 4 – 8pm, the historic gatehouse will also be lit with festive projections and a clock counting down to Christmas day.
