Experience Oxfordshire launches new tour and Economic Impact Report for Tourism in Oxfordshire

Oxford Official Walking Tours, managed by Experience Oxfordshire, have launched a new Dreaming Spires and Splendid Ceilings of Oxford Tour. The new tour will open the doors of the most important ceremonial buildings of Oxford University.

Visitors will be led by a qualified Blue or Green Badge Guide expert. The new tour is ideal for visitors who are interested in discovering the traditions and mysteries of academic life in Oxford and the rich heritage of the City of Dreaming Spires. The tour includes entry to the Sheldonian Theatre, where all Oxford University students matriculate and graduate, the spectacular Divinity School, built in the 15th Century, and finally the University Church of St Mary the Virgin, where all University ceremonies once took place.

Hayley Beer-Gamage, CEO of Experience Oxfordshire, said, “This is a fantastic new way to explore the city of Oxford and is a great new product development from the team, offering those visiting in the colder months the opportunity to discover Oxford’s unique heritage and traditions largely indoors. Developed and led by expert guides, the tour is a great new addition to our growing Oxford Official Walking Tours portfolio2.

Annie Macdonald, Tours Desk Team Leader for Experience Oxfordshire, enthuses, “Our new Dreaming Spires and Splendid Ceilings of Oxford tour has really taken off. The tour offers both locals and visitors to the city the special chance to see inside three major Oxford University buildings, perfect for those wanting to delve a little deeper into Oxford’s history and traditions, which continue through the University calendar today. It is an exciting new tour for us”.
