FRAMELESS launches Summer residency

Frameless has announced a new immersive residency in collaboration with the Royal College of Art (RCA), entitled Bodies Unbound. The new show launched on 3 July as part of the RCA’s graduate Festival of Communication, which opens at Frameless, with events taking place across multiple London venues throughout the month.

The three-part digital show invites audiences to explore how movement can become a powerful language of identity, resistance and joy. Continuing Frameless’ commitment to platforming emerging creative voices, this summer’s residency spotlights three exciting new works by rising graduate artists from the RCA. From underground voguing in Shanghai to classical Kathak-inspired rituals and dreamlike digital landscapes, the residency spans continents and cultures.

The works include:

  • The Pulse Within by Sai Ma: an evocative tribute to Shanghai’s underground voguing community. Blending motion capture, memoir and movement, the piece invites audiences into a world where rhythm becomes resistance, and dance becomes survival.
  • Rebuild Ruins – Escape by Yuchen Li: a haunting, dreamlike video work in which digital choreography becomes a search for freedom. The body moves through spaces of restriction, seeking liberation through movement rather than words.
  • The Veil by Alexis Obue and Kashish Gakhar: a blended sensual heels dance with Kathak inspired performance in a striking digital installation. Through projection and motion, the artists explore themes of shame, concealment and empowerment, turning silence into strength.
