Chatham Historic Dockyard Trust is set to reopen exclusively for Blue Light Card holders from 22 – 24 July, prior to its public reopening on 25 July.

The Historic Dockyard Chatham and its buildings played a key role in defending the country throughout history with some of the world’s most famous ships, including HMS Victory starting life in Chatham. The Trust would like to show its appreciation to the modern day defenders who have supported the country through the current COVID-19 crisis.

The Dockyard has been closed since March, and in the absence of visitors has lit its historic buildings blue and hung banners of support for NHS and emergency service workers. With restrictions now easing, it will reopen on 25 July in line with Government guidelines.

The attraction has secured the We’re Good To Go accreditation mark and has introduced a range of measures to ensure a safe experience for visitors and staff alike. These include timed tickets that must be booked online in advance with limited daily capacity, providing hand sanitiser stations throughout the galleries and implementing enhanced cleaning regimes. A one-way system and cashless payments will also be in place, while some interactive experience will remain closed.
