Kynren – An Epic Tale of England, has won the Group Leisure & Travel Awards ‘Best Event for Groups’ title for the second time, following a previous win in 2023.
The accolade was voted for by Group Leisure & Travel readers, with the annual national awards recognising the best providers, attractions and destinations for groups. Kynren was chosen as the ‘Best Event for Groups’ within a strong category which featured events from across the UK, including Royal Ascot, Blackpool Illuminations and BBC Gardeners’ World Live.
Anna Warnecke, CEO at Kynren said, “What a phenomenal achievement for Kynren and all our volunteers during our milestone 10th anniversary season – to take home this award feels even more special this year. Everyone at Kynren works exceptionally hard to produce a memorable season year-after-year for our visitors and I feel the service we provide for groups really sets us apart.”
County Durham also scooped the award for Best UK Destination, and Christine Oakes, customer service administrator at Kynren, was a finalist in the Group Leisure & Travel’s The Excellence Award. She said, “My time at Kynren began as a volunteer – and in fact is something that I still do now every summer with my daughters – and I have always loved everything about this show, it truly is very special. From the camaraderie of working with other volunteers and the friendships you make to the skills you learn and the immense pride you feel at the end of each performance – it’s like nothing else I’ve ever been a part of.”
The outdoor-theatre spectacular is rated 5* on Tripadvisor. The 90-minute performances start at sunset and ends in starlight, and will be taking place every Saturday night from 19 July to 13 September.
Tickets cost from £30 for adults and from £20 for under 18s. Children aged three and under are free when sat on an adult’s knee.
