Marketing Manchester hosts VisitBritain CEO

Marketing Manchester Patricia Yates Visit
Marketing Manchester Patricia Yates Visit

Earlier this month, Marketing Manchester welcomed CEO of VisitBritain/VisitEngland, Patricia Yates, to Greater Manchester for discussions with key stakeholders and Marketing Manchester visitor economy partners about topics such as international recovery, airline route connectivity, tourism product development, levelling up, regional growth, and Greater Manchester’s incoming new Strategy for the Visitor Economy.

Patricia’s visit was her first to Greater Manchester since VisitEngland approved Marketing Manchester’s application to become the Local Visitor Economy Partnership (LVEP). The LVEP programme is the new structure that has emerged as a result of last year’s de Bois Review and recognises Marketing Manchester with official status to promote Greater Manchester.

As the official agency charged with promoting Greater Manchester nationally and internationally as a place to visit, invest, meet, and study for over 25 years, Marketing Manchester’s reputation as a Destination Management Organisation precedes itself. The work that the organisation undertakes is essential for raising not only the profile of the city-region itself, but also for Manchester as the UK’s global gateway in the north.

With the skyline of Manchester city centre continuing to change, a new trailblazing devolution deal, world-leading cultural openings, and a renewed focus on innovation across the region, Greater Manchester is about to embark on another step change, which could see it setting the blueprint for the future of cities worldwide. Place promotion events like MIPIM, UKREiiF, LREF and EXPO allow leaders and partners to meet with investors and other global cities, do business, and develop meaningful conversations and partnerships. Most importantly, they provide a chance to show the importance of collaboration to Greater Manchester, by working with other global cities and within our own region.

The Manchester Invest Partnership presents an opportunity to strengthen collaborative approach and present investment opportunities at key national and international events across the calendar. A stronger and better integrated approach to place promotion – that includes the option for partners to sign up for a full year of activity – will allow the DMO to prepare in advance and turn up the volume on the region’s plans to showcase Greater Manchester.
