P&O Ferries extends MOANA border scheme for school groups travelling via Dover–Calais

P&O Ferries has confirmed that the MOANA system is now available on return journeys via Calais for eligible UK school groups travelling with P&O Ferries, following its introduction on outbound journeys from Dover in partnership with the Department for Transport and Department for Education.

The MOANA system enables passenger information to be submitted in advance to French border authorities, helping to streamline checks, reduce processing times and improve the overall travel experience for school groups travelling across the Channel.

Building on strong uptake since launch, this development means eligible groups can now benefit from the same streamlined approach on both legs of their journey, supporting more predictable and efficient crossings, particularly during peak travel periods.

Louisa Bell, Passenger Managing Director at P&O Ferries, said, “School trips should be all about the experience, not the stress of getting there. We continue to support the rollout of the MOANA system, including now via Calais, reflecting our ongoing commitment to making cross-Channel travel smoother and more efficient for school groups. Collaboration is key, and we’ll continue working closely with partners to ensure the scheme delivers for our customers.”
