The wedding outfits of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank will be on display at Windsor Castle until 22 April in a special exhibition – A Royal Wedding: HRH Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank.

The Princess’s wedding dress was designed by Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos, who in 2007 founded the British-based label Peter Pilotto, known for its innovative textile design. Princess Eugenie met the designers while co-hosting an event in support of women artists and has been wearing designs by the brand for several years.

The trio worked closely together on the design of the dress, developed layer by layer over several fittings. The dress features a corset and complex underskirt, a fitted bodice and full pleated skirt, and a neckline that folds around the shoulders to a low back which drapes into a flowing full-length train. The low back design was specifically requested by the Princess to show the scar from her scoliosis correction surgery.

The fabric of the dress was also designed by Pilotto and De Vos and includes a number of meaningful symbols including ivy to represent the couple’s home, Ivy Cottage, and the White Rose of York. The symbols were interpreted in a garland motif intricately woven into a jacquard of silk, cotton and viscose blend.

The Greville Emerald Kokoshnik Tiara, lent to the Princess for her wedding by the Queen, will also be on public display for the first time. Created by Parisian jewellery house Boucheron in 1919, the tiara is made of brilliant and rose cut diamonds pavé set in platinum, with six emeralds on either side. Her diamond and emerald drop earrings, a wedding gift from Jack Brooksbank, will also be on display.

Jack Brooksbank’s wedding outfit – a black and grey morning suit with a vivid blue waistcoat created by Savile Row tailors Huntsman – will be displayed alongside.
