During lockdown, National Trust for Scotland is sharing filming locations to inspire future visits and for fans to virtually experience key sites seen on screen.

Featured locations include Culzean Castle, featured in The Wicker Man; St Abbs Head which appeared in Avengers: Endgame as New Asgard; and Culloden Battlefield, Falkland Village and Culross Palace which all feature in the Outlander series.

Outlander joins a long line of blockbusters filmed at National Trust for Scotland heritage attractions including Skyfall, The Dark Knight Rises, The 39 Steps and more recently Outlaw King and Mary Queen of Scots.

Set jetting or film tourism is a great inspiration and driver for tourism visits. According to VisitScotland statistics, around 8% of leisure visitors to Scotland – approximately 700,000 domestic and international overnight visitors – were influenced by a TV programme about Scotland.

With a wide variety of historic sites, castles, houses and gardens, National Trust for Scotland offers plenty of key drivers for tourism. For enquiries, trade rates or an Outlander itinerary please contact [email protected].
