Tourism South East appoints a new Chief Executive

Tourism South East has announced the appointment of a new Chief Executive. Fran Downton, previously Head of Marketing at the successful regional tourism organisation, will take up the post from 1 February 2020. Fran brings with her a wealth of tourism experience from previous roles with P&O Ferries and the City of Portsmouth. Fran has a degree in Leisure Management, Diplomas in Travel and Tourism and Marketing and a proven track record in leading an award-winning service.

Tourism South East is one of the oldest and strongest tourism support organisations in the UK. The regional Tourist Board became a not-for-profit industry organisation in 2012 following the closure of the Regional Development Agencies. The highly experienced partnership organisation is dedicated to providing specialised tourism services and expertise to support the performance and growth of tourism businesses and destinations.

As Head of Marketing, Fran has played a major role in successfully running Tourism South East over the past 14 months has provided strategic support in the absence of former Chief Executive, Nigel Smith, who has stepped down from the role for health reasons.
