The stage musical Pride will transfer to The Bridge Theatre, following its acclaimed run at The National Theatre and as part of the Trafalgar Theatre Productions family.
Set in South Wales in 1984, the brand-new musical tells the true story of Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners (LGSM), an activist group founded by 24-year-old Mark Ashton during the miners’ strike.
The musical follows the alliance between LGBTQ+ activists and mining communities in South Wales, who worked together to support striking miners and their families.
The production reunites Pride director Matthew Warchus and writer Stephen Beresford, alongside composers Christopher Nightingale, Josh Cohen and DJ Walde.
The musical features original songs influenced by protest anthems, pop, rock, disco and the Welsh choral tradition, and is based on the real-life events surrounding LGSM and its support for the miners’ communities.
