Sales Manager (Group Bookings), City Cruises UK

City Cruises UK is part of the City Experiences division of the Hornblower Group, a global leader in world-class experiences and transportation services. They operate public dining and sightseeing cruises as well as private charters for corporate events, birthday parties, weddings, or other special occasions across London, Poole and York.

They are currently seeking a Sales Manager who will effectively manage the Group Bookings department for City Cruises UK, incorporating London, Poole, and York. This role also involves responsibility for two Booking Executives.

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensure all group enquiries are handled professionally and booked in a timely manner
  • Take responsibility for reviewing booking reports and advise when specific dates/products are getting close to capacity
  • Establish a framework for the bookings team to ensure correct procedures are followed with regards to contracting, chasing up of signed proposals and follow-up
  • Manage group allocations for all destinations; keep a rolling monthly check on all incoming groups and options held to ensure accurate inventory availability
  • Manage bespoke group bookings
  • Provide group booking statistics monthly
  • Liaise with other attractions to manage group bookings
  • Actively upsell and encourage future sales
  • Develop relationships with key group operators
  • Manage attendance at group trade shows, including registration, booking of furniture, preparation of necessary collateral, submitting content for handbook/website, pre and post show correspondence.
  • Ensure details are logged within the CRM system
  • Be the main point of contact for group trade associations, i.e., AGTO and CTA, as well as group travel publications
  • Work with the Head of Trade Sales and the Marketing team to create bespoke mailings for groups
  • Manage, train, and develop a team of two sales executives
  • Establish regular contact with the teams in London, Poole, and York
  • Understand operational procedures for all three locations
  • Keep up to date with the groups market(s) and provide regular intel to the Head of Trade Sales
  • To host group familiarisation trips
  • To be an Ambassador for our RESPECT Service System
  • Any other ad-hoc duties

Key skills & experience:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience of working in the Travel & Tourism industry
  • Knowledge of the groups market preferable
  • Experience of managing a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and committed to data accuracy
  • Proficient in MS Office; experience of working with a CRM system (Sales Force an advantage)
  • Fluency in a second language desirable
  • Full time role based in Poole, but with some travel to London and York, as well as attendance at domestic events (including some overnights and weekends)
